Welcome to my web site.
I work freelance from my studio in Hellifield, a village in the glorious Yorkshire Dales.
My working methods are strictly traditional. I aim to replicate the sophisticated blend of skill, style and spontaneity of the old Italian instruments.
Customer satisfaction is very important to me. I endeavour to make all the adjustments necessary for the individual client to be completely comfortable with their chosen instrument.
All of my instruments come with a life-time guarantee, which includes free adjustments/maintenance, and repair within reason (i.e. if not due to neglect/accident or fault of purchaser.)
Alternatively, you can commission an instrument. Whether you want a copy of one particular instrument, or have an idea of an instrument you’re after, I can work through your personal requirements right from the beginning. This could entail designing certain fundamentals such as length and style right through to an actual copy of a precious but delicate/damaged instrument already in your possession.
I make instruments in both modern and baroque set up.
I normally have a small stock of instruments you’re welcome to try.
Special arrangements (i.e. shipping of an instrument etc.) can be made for overseas clients.
Feel free to pop in to try my instruments… or just for a chat and to share a pot of Yorkshire Tea!
(Please contact us first to avoid disappointment.)
Some of my instruments are now also available to try/purchase at:
UK - Philip Brown Violins , Newbury USA -
Reuning & Son Violins , Boston, J.S.Holmes Fine Violins, Ann Arbor
Canada - Remenyi House of Music, Toronto
