Tetsuya Kimura is a violin maker currently based in Kawasaki – 30 minutes train ride away from the centre of Tokyo in Japan.

Since graduating from the Newark School of Violin Making in 2004, and setting up his first workshop in North Yorkshire (UK), he has worked in Antwerp (Belgium), Gifu, Tottori, and Tokyo.

Also passionate about teaching and sharing his knowledge, he has taught a number of aspiring makers who are now full-time professionals.

He is a founding member of Misasa Violin Workshop, where keen individuals come and share technique and information with an aim to raise the level of violin making and restoration in Japan.
